The educational presentation of Homer's opera "ILIADA" was successfully presented on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at the 2nd High School of Kifissia "Lyreio Didakterio" with a seminar: "Prosody as a connecting link between opera and ancient Greek literature".
Lecturer (Presenter): Panagiotis Karousos, composer (prosody analysis).
The Lyric Soloists, Irini Konsta (soprano), Rea Voudouri (soprano), and the Musical Ensemble "Rhapsodes" participated, Yiannis Darrios (tenor), Niki Zacharopoulou (chorus), Harry Giann (piano). Coordination: Rhea Voudouri (soprano). Artistic Direction: Panagiotis Karousos.
There was an interactive participation of the students of the 2nd Gymnasium of Kifissia with scenes from rhapsodies A and K of the Iliad.
The theatrical group of students was supervised by Professor Eleni Mavromatidou.
The greeting was given by Stasinopoulou Tzina, Director of the 2nd Gymnasium of Kifissia.
The Technical Department was provided by Zamenopoulos Pavlos, Deputy Director of the 2nd Gymnasium of Kifissia.
The Hymn to the Muse, the aria of Achilles "Aphthiton kleos", the choral "Aspida tou Achilles", and the arias of Andromache and Helen of Troy were performed. Also, examples of Prosody on phrases from Homer's Iliad were performed by Rhea Voudouri and Yannis Darreios. Also, a video showing the aria "Agni Thea" from Bellini's opera Norma was shown with Maria Callas.
The opera was very popular with the students who warmly applauded the artists.
