Triumph of the opera "Prometheus Bound" under the direction of great conductor Eleftherios Kalkanis in Corinth

Friday, April 20, 2018. The opera "Prometheus Bound" of Aeschylus, directed by Vasilis Asimakopoulos, and set to music by Panagiotis Karousos, was presented with great success at the Municipal Theater of Corinth "Thomas Thomaidis", under the direction of the renowned conductor Eleftherios Kalkanos.
The solid musical direction of Eleftherios Kalkanis has highlighted the opera at the level of the classical repertoire works and the public was much fascinated by the music.
The opera was presented in the framework of the approved program of the Ministry of Education, Research and Religious Affairs (IEP) with the Seminar: "The Prosody as a Connecting Ring of the Opera with the Ancient Greek Tragedy".
The organization of this educational program was carried out by the Directorate of Secondary Education of Corinth, the Regional Directorate of Primary and Secondary Education of the Peloponnese, and the Department of School Activities, with the support of the Municipality of Korinthia and the ELME of Corinthia.
The excellent editing and organization of the event was given by musician Tsapalou Anastasia, Music Director of the Corinth, which presented the opera and spoke with the best words for the participating artists and composer Panagiotis Karousos, and welcomed the great conductor Eleftherios Kalkanis in the City of Corinth.
Greeting was made by Dr. Ioannis Pheidas, Director of Secondary Education of Corinthia PA01 and congratulated the participating artists for the excellent performance.
The opera "Prometheus Bound" was attended by great opera singers, led by the unique bass Vasilis Asimakopoulos in the role of the rebel Prometheus. The exceptional lyric bass Vasilis Asimakopoulos he developed the heroic resistance aspects of the hero Prometheus against the tyrannical power of Zeus, with a wide range of vocal hues, a theatrical interpretive range, and an exciting filmmaking approach to the tragedy.
The marvelous lyric-dramatic soprano Irini Konsta in the role of the tragic Io, moved with her interpretation and rocked the music-loving audience. Particularly in the duet of Prometheus – Io, the opera work introduces to the deep drama of human existence.
The unbelievable soprano-coloratura Vanessa Kalkanis impressed in the role of Oceanid with her musicality and melodic precision of her voice, and was discerned the audience of the theater when she interpreted the elaborate aria of the Goddess Hera with her stratospheric perfect voice of high arts singing!
Tenor Theodoros Birakos interpreted the role of the Ocean with dramatic intensity and the melodious aria of Hermes with vigor and momentum, conjuring the audience.
At the finale of the opera, the role of the Goddess Athena was interpreted by soprano Irini Konsta with bass Vasilis Asimakopoulos as the Titan Prometheus.
The outstanding musicians of the orchestra were: Flute: Gerta Selmani. Clarinet: Lentina Georgantzi. 1st Violins: Brunilda - Eugenia Malo, concertino, Yannis Skenderi, Charitini Anastasiadis, Antonis Spyropoulos, Nikos Pilarinos.
2nd Violins: Panagiotis Mavrianos, Vangelis Mermigas, Alexia Mavromatis, Vera Rizou, Konstantinos Kontos. Viola: Monica Damo. Cello: Mirella Routsi. Contrabass: Michael Ergenis. Trombone: Yiannis Apostolidis.
The full hall of the Municipal Theater of Corinth, by teachers and crowds, has prolonged a standing ovation of the opera, and flowers were given to the protagonists and to the great conductor Eleftherios Kalkanis, Conductor in Residence of the Symphony Orchestra of the Municipality of Athens, for the quality presentation of the opera "Prometheus Bound "by composer Panagiotis Karousos.

Mr. Alexandros Pneumatikos Mayor of the City of Corinth and the Administrative staff of the Corinthian Secondary Education Directorate, Mrs. Vassiliki Stathi, Director of the 4th General Lyceum of Corinth, Mr. Georgios Sofianos, Director of the Sofikos High School, also helped in this amazing performance, Emmanouil Papachristodoulou Director of the Isthmia’s High School, the teachers: Georgios Gelos philologist, Dimitrios Baroulos, computer scientist, Maria Hapsa, philologist, Stavros Kemerlis mechanic, Georgios Tzavelas agronomist, Tasos Constantinou technician of the theater, Nick Athenian journalist for

Kalkanis, and Nikos Nikolopoulos Director of the Byzantine Conservatory with his students. After the opera, a reception took place in the foyer of the theater from the Corinthian Secondary Education Directorate.
