AWARDS CEREMONY "MARIA CALLAS AWARDS 2018"

Wednesday, December 5, 2018. The awards ceremony "MARIA CALLAS AWARDS 2018 " were greeted with glamor at the Galatsi Cultural Center "Kamini", Athens, Greece.
The awards were bestowed by the Greek-Canadian composer Panagiotis Karousos, the well-known mezzo-soprano of the National Opera of Greece Maria Marketou, the President of the Cultural and Sports Organization of the Municipality of Galatsi Margarita Mandilaras, the Deputy Mayor of Social Policy and Health of the Municipality of Galatsi Konstantina Spiliopoulou - Chrysagi, Dr Chrysoula Tsigri and teacher Aikaterini Diakogeorgiou. Also at the attendees were Katerina Christodoulou, Head of the Galatsi Municipality Cultural Center "Kamini", Stelios Ioannou, musician of the Athens State Orchestra, George Stavrakis, writer of the Greek Literary Society, etc.
The distinguished audience in the crowded hall cheer applauded the fine opera singers who performed famous arias and duets from operas performed by Maria Callas as well as arias and duets from Panagiotis Karousos's operas "Prometheus Bound" & "Trachiniae".
The lyric artists were awarded: Irini Konsta, soprano, Vasilis Asimakopoulos, bass, Rea Voudouri, soprano, Theodoros Birakos, tenor, Katerina Botoni, mezzo, Mariza Kioseoglou, soprano, Orfeas Tsarekas, bass, John Britsas, tenor, Maira Georgarou, mezzo-soprano. The exceptional lyric artists accompanied pianist Pantelis Legakis.
Irini Konsta wrote beautiful words for the life and work of the great diva of the opera Maria Callas, the text was read by Jenny Zaroulea, actress of the Galatsi Municipal Theater Stage.
It was a wonderful concert dedicated to Maria Callas that touched and enthused the musical audience.
