TV concert of Panagiotis Carousos at the City of Athens Museum

 

On Tuesday, April 21, a classical music television concert was held at the Museum of the City of Athens for the show “Open Pages” by journalist Achilleas Papadionisiou on the television station “Acheloos TV”. 

Works by the internationally renowned Greek-Canadian composer Panagiotis Karousos were presented, with exceptional lyrical artists. The presentation of the works was made by the well-known presenter Costas Venetsanos. The Director of the Museum of the City of Athens - Vouros-Euftaxias Foundation, Mr. Polykarpos Kominis, congratulated the composer and the artists. 

Participants: Irini Konsta (soprano), Rea Voudouri (soprano), Athanasios Lianos (tenor), Vasilis Dimitrakakis (bass). Musical direction: Harry Giann (piano). Artistic direction: Panagiotis Carousos (composer). 

Specifically, soprano Irini Konsta performed the lyrical songs “Spring Symphony” (Yannis Ritsos), “Daughter of Athens” (Lord Byron), "Love, unconquered in battle" (Greek: Ἔρως ἀνίκατε μάχαν / Eros anikate machan), The Hymn to Love: 3rd stop from Sophocles’ Antigone, “Axion Estin” from the Oratorio “The Light of Christianity”, and the arias of the Beautiful Helen “I will become a song that has been heard” and “Now everything is over” from the opera Iliad by Homer. 

Soprano Rea Voudouri performed the lyrical songs “The Poet” (Dimitris Iatropoulos), “Evangelism – Hellenism” (Aristotle Valaoritis), “Saint Nektarios” Megalynario – Hymn of Saint Nektarios from the Oratorio “The Light of Christianity”, and the aria of Oceanid “The Pontus Thunders Deafly” from the opera Prometheus Bound by Aeschylus. 

Tenor Athanasios Lianos performed the aria of Hermes “The Thief of Fire” from the opera Prometheus Bound by Aeschylus. 

Bass-baritone Vasilis Dimitrakakis performed the aria of Prometheus “And now alone” from the opera Prometheus Bound by Aeschylus. 

Also were performed the duets: "On the outstretched ridge" Helen & Paris, from the opera Iliad by Homer with Irini Konsta (soprano) and Vasilis Dimitrakakis (bass-baritone), "Glory to you who shows the light" from the Oratorio "The Light of Christianity" with Irini Konsta and Rea Voudouri, and the Trio Prometheus, Oceanus, Oceanid from the opera Prometheus Bound by Aeschylus with Vasilis Dimitrakakis, Athanasios Lianos and Rea Voudouri.

Concert and Award Ceremony for P. Karousos at UNESCO Piraeus


On Thursday, April 9, 2026, as part of the Easter event of UNESCO Piraeus and Islands, the international Cultural Award “Yorgos Foudoulis Culture Award 2025” of the International Art Academy as “World Awarded Composer 2025” was awarded to the music composer Panagiotis Karousos. The “Yorgos Foudoulis Culture Award” is an international Cultural Award that is awarded to people of art and culture for their entire work. The award to the internationally renowned Greek-Canadian music composer Panagiotis Karousos was made by Mr. Ioannis Maronitis, President of the Club for UNESCO of Piraeus and Islands and of the World Federation of UNESCO Clubs, Associations and Centers (WFUCA) for Europe and North America.

The Concert of the composer Panagiotis Karousos was successfully presented at the "M. Vardinoyannis" Cultural Center for the LAMPADA FESTIVAL - Church Candle Festival, Holy Thursday, April 9, 2026. UNESCO Group of Piraeus & Islands in collaboration with the International Organization International ACTION ART.

The event was addressed by Mr. Ioannis Maronitis, President of the UNESCO Group of Piraeus & Islands and of the World Federation of UNESCO Clubs, Associations and Centers (WFUCA) for Europe and North America.

The program included the "Rapsodies" Musical Ensemble.

Nadia Karagianni (singer), Sofia Daraki (singer), Yannis Darrios (tenor), Harry Giann (piano), Panagiotis Karousos (composer).

Program: Concert with new artistic lyrical and Christian songs by Panagiotis Karousos, with poems set to music by great poets, and wonderful Hymns of Holy Week.

Specifically, hymns from the Oratorio “Light of Christianity” by Panagiotis Karousos were presented. To the Virgin Mary, To Saint Nektarios, To the Apostle Paul. Resurrection by Aristotle Valaoritis, Psalm by Alexandros Papadiamantis, etc. as well as the hymn “Ai geneai pasai” from “I zoie en tafo” of the Encomiums of the Epitaph Lament.

The International Cultural Award "Yorgos Foudoulis Culture Award" is awarded every year to distinguished personalities of Letters, Arts and Sciences in 130 countries and is awarded following Recommendations by Members of the International Committee of the Award and the Association of Hellenic-Egyptian Cultural Cooperation.
