Opera "Prometheus Bound" by Aeschylus

Launched with huge success the approved program by the
Ministry of Education, Research and Religious Affairs, presenting the opera
"Prometheus Bound" with an introductory seminar on prosody in the
secondary schools of Greece.
The approved program of the Education Ministry with the
agreement of the Teachers Association were involved the opera singers:
Prometheus: Vasilis Asimakopoulos, bass - Io: Irene Konsta,
soprano - Ocean / Mercury: Theodore Birakos, tenor - Violence / Athena: Dimitra
Kamitsi, soprano – and Victoria Kiazimi, piano
The program started on January 31, 2017 from Athens High
School 18, in Ano Patissia. Attended by over 250 students thrilled by the music
and enthusiastically applauded the wonderful performances of the fine opera
protagonists.
Preceded the seminar: "The prosody as a link of the
opera with the ancient Greek tragedy", involving ten students actively
reading texts: Music in Ancient Greece, Ancient Greek musical system, The
orchestra instruments in ancient Greek drama, The ancient Greek tragedians, The
ancient Greek theater, texts given by Dr. Anastasios Koutsoukos. The music
school teacher Paraskevi Makrinou read: The kinds of voices in opera.
The composer Panagiotis Karousos developed the importance of
prosody in a relation to the development of opera and prose-prosody difference
in ancient Greek tragedy. Also referred to connection of the opera to the
ancient Greek tragedy and the contribution of prosody to the creation of
classical music.
The presentation did by Elias Koutsis, director of the
18th High School of Athens: "It is a great honor for the school to realize
this great educational project of the Ministry of Education of Greece, that
makes us particularly proud to have with us the creator-composer Panagiotis
Karousos with his worthy associates lyric singers, and have him to analyze and
present the opera "Prometheus Bound", the masterpiece of Aeschylus.
