Successful presentation of the Oratorio: "The United Nations - Hope of Mankind" by Panagiotis Karousos under the auspices of the Club for UNESCO Piraeus and Islands

Sunday 14 April 2019. With a great success was presented the Oratorio: "The United Nations - Hope of Mankind" by Panagiotis Karousos under the auspices of the Club for UNESCO Piraeus and Islands in Corinth.
Corinthians have had the opportunity to enjoy a great concert of renown composer Panagiotis Karousos, that impressed the audience with works of original music with melodic harmony.
The concert was conducted by the leading Greek conductor Faidra Giannelou, who with her excellent technique did an amazing performance of musical works that pleased the audience.
The soloists were two great voices of the opera, soprano Irini Konsta, and bass Vasilis Asimakopoulos, who performed magically the excellent works of Panagiotis Karousos. Their splendid voices and their spectacular stage presence moved and inspired the audience.
At the concert participated the Graduates' Choir of Music School Pallini” the Attiki Educators' Choir “Choremus” and the Hellenic Symphony Orchestra conducted by great maestro Faidra Giannelou.
This excellent concert was co-organized by the Department of School Activities of the Directorate for Secondary Education of Corinthia and the Municipality of Corinth under the auspices of the Club for UNESCO Piraeus and Islands.
The concert was attended by official authorities, Mayor of Corinth Alexandros Pneumatikos, the Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Corinth Costas Partsinevelos, Ioannis Pheidas Director of Corinth Directorate for Secondary Education, and the well-known private researcher, writer and consultant of the cultural heritage of UNESCO Piraeus and the Islands Giorgos Tsoukalis who represented Ioannis Maronitis, President of the Club for UNESCO Piraeus & Islands.
Organizer Anastasia Tsapalou musician and head of the Department of School Activities said: “The music of composer Panagiotis Karousos is equivalent to the great classics of the opera, so far nothing has been heard so impressive in the Greek repertoire of the opera".
In the first part of the concert were presented works by Panagiotis Karousos:
Introduction of the opera "Prometheus Bound", Choir of Oceanids from the opera "Prometheus Bound", Duet (Prometheus - Io) from the opera "Prometheus Bound", Choir  (Olympic Flame) from the opera "Trachiniae"
Duet (Macaria - Hyllus) from the opera "Trachiniae", Choir from the opera "Alexander the Great", Choir from the Oratorio: "The Light of Christianity".
In the second part of the concert was presented the Oratorio: "The United Nations - Hope of Mankind" dedicated to the United Nations.
"Overture", "I Hear America Singing" Walt Whitman, "Le Chanteur" Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin, "A Day of Spring" Li Po, "Divine Music" La Voix de l'éternelle sagesse” Kahlil Gibran, " Canción del gitano apaleado" Federico Garcia Lorca, "The Harp of the Songs" Lamartine, Finale: "The Song of the Nations".

The program began with a poem by Anastasia Tsapalou, inspired by the opera "Prometheus Bound" by Panagiotis Karousos.
