Tuesday, December 12, 2023. The concert of music composer Panagiotis Karousos was held with great success at the Piraeus Municipal Theater - foyer under the auspices of the Club for UNESCO of Piraeus & Islands in collaboration with the International Organization International ACTION ART. Ioannis Maronitis, President of the Club for UNESCO of Piraeus & Islands, gave a greeting and awarded the baritone Petros Salatas with a Medal of the Club for UNESCO of Piraeus & Islands.
The audience in the packed hall applauded the artists who performed the inspiring music of Panagiotis Karousos. Arias and duets from the operas "Prometheus Bound" by Aeschylus and "Homer's Iliad" were performed. Lyrical duet: Beautiful Helen and Paris, Helen: Irini Konsta, soprano, Paris: Petros Salatas, baritone. Helen's Aria: "Now everything is over" Irini Konsta, soprano. A great impression was made by the interpretation of the great baritone Petros Salatas in the poem set to music by P. Karousos "The Daughter of Athens" by Lord Byron. The song "Ozymandias" was also performed by the Icelandic soprano Hlín Leifsdóttir, in the world premiere of an iconic poem by Shelley set to music by P. Karousos, "Ozymandias is my name, the King of Kings...".
Soprano Rhea Voudouri performed Shakespeare's Sonnet 109 set to music by P. Karousos and the song "Maria Callas of our Heart" a song dedicated to Maria Callas - UNESCO Anniversary Year 2023. Mr. Ioannis Maronitis, President of UNESCO Piraeus and Islands, gave an interview about the concert of Mr. P. Karousos to the journalist Sofia Fykas on the program "Aroma Zois" on Channel 1, 90.4 - Municipal Radio of Piraeus.
