An old photo from about 1990 (+ or -) when I was given a couple of Awards from the then President of the Board of the Holy Trinity Archdiocesan Cathedral Theodore Prounis, at a ceremony at the Cathedral, for having built a pre-school facility and library.
I knew that the Cathedral School would have liked to build and needed a pre-school facility , library ,etc. within their space but didn’t have the funds. So I mentioned to the Board’s President that I wanted to propose a plan to the Board and asked to attend one of their Board meetings. Going to their Board meeting and when my turn on the Agenda I discussed the issue and said I would raise the funds (in today’s money about $250,000 or so) from outside the Hellenic/Orthodox community, hire the architect and engineers to design and file it, and hire the contractors to build it and get the appropriate government sign offs to use it. They looked at me with blank stares thinking I was perhaps crazy, laughing to themselves I am sure and voted to approve it smugly I think believing it would never happen. Talk with most can be cheap as we all know. Only the President who knew me and my linkages within the New York development, design , and construction industry had different thoughts. The following year the pre-school was opened and helped bring in needed school funds. I only bring it up now as a matter of Archdiocesan Cathedral history since some of its history is unwritten nor known by most.
The photo was taken by Costa Hayden then the traveling photographer of Archbishop Iakovos and many others.
