The Hyde Park Jazz Festival returns to present nearly 30 FREE live performances in multiple sites across Hyde Park, Kenwood, and Washington Park on September 25th-26th, 2021, including the return of the Wagner and West Stages on the Midway. As the Festival emerges from the Covid-19 pandemic, the program focuses on Chicago artists, many of whom will perform with very special guests.
The program features Chicago Artists with Special Guests, including Tomeka Reid w/Regina Carter; Isaiah Collier w/ JD Allen; Juan Pastor’s Chinchano w/ Miguel Zenon, and more than 2 dozen additional performances.
The Hyde Park Jazz Festival continues its commissioning program this year with a commission to Chicago drummer, producer, beat scientist and composer, Makaya McCraven. McCraven will create a new 45-60 minute suite for sextet, including musicians Greg Ward (alto sax), Matt Gold (guitar), Junius Paul (bass), Marquis Hill (trumpet), and Brandee Younger (harp).
