LET’S CELEBRATE MUSIC WITH SONGS BY PANAGIOTIS KAROUSOS
Participation in the European Music Day 2021, under the Auspices of UNESCO Piraeus & Islands. Mr Ioannis Maronitis president of UNESCO Piraeus and International Action Art gave honorific certificates to the artists and honored the Numismatic Museum of Greece. The sold-out concert was a great success with many applauses from the audiences, they especially happy because of the first day without masks in Greece. At the program was poems from great poets (Neruda, Tolstoy, Pavese, Palamas, Solomos, Ritsos, etc.) set to music by Panagiotis Karousos.

Friday, June 25, 2021. Numismatic Museum of Athens Garden Café.It was the new works of the renowned Greek-Canadian composer Panagiotis Karousos. The composer and director of classical music and opera for the Club for UNESCO Piraeus & Islands, known through his operas (Prometheus Bound, Trachiniae - Olympic Flame, Alexander the Great, Oratorio: The Song of the Nations), makes an opening in art and folk song, setting to music great Greek and foreign poets. A tribute to the 200 years of poetry (1821-2021) since the liberation of the Greek state that we celebrate this year and on the occasion of the European and World Music Day 2021. The Numismatic Museum was pleased to present the premiere of these new songs, said Mr. Ioannis Maronitis, President of the Club for UNESCO Piraeus & Islands.
Among others, the concert was honored by the presence of the soloists of the Navy Band of Greece Andreas Karaoulis, Manolis Kokkonis, Theodoros Birakos Vasilakos, the music teacher Kati Karatzas mother of the internationally renowned conductor Theodoros Currentzis, Antonis Gyamvrias ex-director of the Hellenic Radio Symphony Orchestra, the conductor of the National Opera of Greece Elias Voudouris, the well-known mezzo-soprano Maria Marketou, the Chorus master Petros Daskalothanasis professor of European and Byzantine Music, the soprano Efy Dimitrelou, the baritone Nikos Siropoulos, the Professors Anastasios Koutsoukos, Maria Tsianti, Chrysoula Tsigri, the businessman Giannis Konstantinidis, the actress and writer Jenny Collarou Kallergi, the Vice President and Director of International Relations of the Club for UNESCO Piraeus and Islands & International Action Art for India Mahar Gandhi, etc.
