 The Affirmation of Office ceremony of the Board / Parish Council of the new St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church and National Shrine to be completed next year took place yesterday at the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese’s small elegant Chapel following the celebration of the Divine Liturgy for the feast of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker there. I was honored to have been one of the sworn in members of this new Board by His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros and for his kind words In the new Board group photo by Dimitri Panagos I am next to Michael Psaros on the left.

Also on the Council will the Ex-Officio Members, who are the leaders from various National Organizations which have assisted the rebuilding of Saint Nicholas in substantive ways:
The Archdiocesan Presbyters Council President: Father Mark Leondis;
The National Commander of the Order of Saint Andrew: Archon Anthony Limberakis; the National Philoptochos President: Arlene Siavelis Kehl;
the Supreme President of AHEPA: Jimmy Kokotas: and the Chairman of Leadership 100: Argyris Vassiliou.
The Archbishop indicated “The new Saint Nicholas will have a national and even international profile that no other Church in the Archdiocese has ever dreamed of. We must be innovative, creative, and consciously and carefully move forward, so that we may bring the mission of Saint Nicholas to the public, commensurate with the dignity of our traditions and the piety of our faith.

It was very nice last year and I was honored to have been asked by his Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros , and accepted, to be on the first Board of the new St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church and National Shrine. Although asked again to serve on the Board for this coming year my various activities both professional and personal made it difficult for me to accept, but as they know I will continue help St. Nicholas and the community going forward as appropriate in any way I can be of service.
