Standing Ovation and successful concert at the Royal College of Music with works by Panagiotis Karousos, under the Auspices of UNESCO Piraeus & Islands. Panagiotis Karousos masterpieces works impressed London's classical music audience. 

Thursday 23rd of June 2016. Fawley Court presented composer Panagiotis Karousos at The Royal College of Music in London with a team of fine artists from Greece.

The concert at the Royal College of Music was successful and composer and all artists where acclaimed by the audience. Mrs Lily Harriss – Director of Development & Alumni Engagement at the RCM and Brigitte Duchesne – ‎Counsellor, Public Diplomacy – High Commission of Canada in the United Kingdom gave the awards on behalf of Ioannis Maronitis, President of UNESCO Piraeus & Islands to the artists Irene Konsta, Vasilis Asimakopoulos, Monica Dhamo, Mirela Ruci, and Vivi Kleisoura, for their participation in a high level concert of classical music.

The Club for UNESCO Piraeus & Islands proudly supported this special event in London, UK, with a distinguish Greek Classical Music composer. Mrs Aida Dellal Hersham, organizer of the concert was special honored with a UNESCO Medal on behalf of Mr. Ioannis Maronitis, President of the Club for UNESCO Piraeus and Islands and Member of the Board of the World Federation of Associations and Club Centres for UNESCO, responsible for Europe and North America.

The concert took place at Parry Rooms, of the Royal College of Music, (Prince Consort Rd, London, SW7 2BS), Thursday 23rd of June 2016. Reception and drinks offered to VIP guests from 6:30pm, and for 7:00pm concert started.

The production was organized and sponsored by Fawley Court, and the presentation made by Aida Dellal Hersham, who invited the composer and artists to London for this special concert.

At this concert Panagiotis Karousos presented for the first time in England some of his best chamber music compositions, Art Songs and arias from his operas Prometheus Bound and Olympic Flame.

This very special concert started with a poem written from Queen Elizabeth I of England, (Written on a Wall at Woodstock). The composer set to music the poem and dedicated especial for the occasion to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II for her 90 birthdays. The Song for Queen Elizabeth II sang beautifully by soprano Irene Konsta.

The program had three major romantic era English poets, William Shakespeare (sonnet 109), Lord Byron (Maid of Athens), and Percy Bysshe Shelley (Ozymandias).

The “Sonnet 109” by Shakespeare sang by acclaimed bass Vasilis Asimakopoulos.

The rest of the program was: Piano Trio No.1 «D’amour», Romance for Violin and Piano, Divertimento for Cello and Piano, Guillaume Apollinaire: Automne, Johann W. Goethe: Nachtgedanken «Night Thoughts», Alphonse de Lamartine: La Harpe des Cantiques, Rachel Bluwstein: To My Country, Jorge Luis Borges: Son los ríos.

Piano Trio No.1 «D’amour», performed by radiant violinist Monika Dhamo, excellent cellist Mirela Ruci, and fine pianist Paraskevi Kleisoura.

Prometheus aria from the opera “Prometheus Bound”, performed majestically by Vasilis Asimakopoulos, and Deianira’s aria from the opera “Olympic Flame”, wonderfully by Irene Konsta. The concert completed with a duet from the opera “Olympic Flame” with all marvelous artists:

The concert finishes with a Standing Ovation and big applause from the worm audience.
