AGREEMENT OF BELEM-E.M.I.-REGIONAL NETWORK OF ECOM MUSEUMS IN LIGURIA of UNESCO Club GENOA AND INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION (International Association for UNESCO Genoa metropolitan city Com 04-ref.2860-01/02/2026 F)

1 FEBRUARY 2026. After the last year of important advances for community museology, our ecomuseal practices have now become benchmarks for international standards. Like droplets that form rivers, local community-led initiatives merge into a regenerative movement of broader global breath.

Weavers of the Future and the last big action of Club UNESCO Genoa in the Italian ecomuseum network. A strong commitment and a keen appeal to activate the active culture against the climate crisis and for bioregional regeneration.

With the signing of the Belém Agreement, a political document for cultural institutions, also our important Association that I preside, together with the Italian ecomuseale Network, becomes an instrument of COACHING and an active subject that acts specifically on the territory to give shape to the governments appeal.

Our contribution to Weavers of the Future, focused on heritage and climate challenge, is to present, together with the Italian Ecomuseum Network, best practices for social welfare and the community.

Our participation in the EcoLivre meeting supports and supports the action of the National Network of Italian Ecomuseums that is based on a proven long-term cooperation with Brazilian partners — born in the COVID-19 period through the "Distant but United" agreement — and aligns with the project's concrete objective:

strengthening cultural institutions as agents of change;

connecting local practices with global strategies;

Promote climate justice, community participation and the integration of scientific and traditional knowledge.

Through the international showcase of practices, the EcoLivre meeting and the Belém Accord, our UNESCO Club in Genoa together with EMI joins a global network that will continue beyond COP30.

Among the commitments and upcoming actions aligned with the Belém Agreement, it should be remembered that in the next 12 months, together with the National Network of Italian ecomuseums, our Association will seek to make the objectives of the Belém Accord their own and to implement them in their territories and through the empowerment of their communities.

UNESCO Club Genoa and Italian Ecomuseums, for example, will be able to activate communities through listening tables and participatory identity mapping to deepen community engagement and align territorial actions with the Belém Agreement.

A great success that is due to the constant quality work done so far and to the international credibility achieved by our Association for UNESCO.
