Success of the lyrical tragedy "Prometheus Bound" at the 62nd High School of Athens


Thursday, December 13, 2018. The presentation of the lyrical tragedy "Prometheus Bound" directed by Vasilis Asimakopoulos with the participation of the students of the 62nd High School of Athens - Gymnasium of Athens took place with great success at the Cultural Center of Kato Petralona - Municipality of Athens.
More than 300 students together with the teachers applauded the artists: Prometheus: Vasilis Asimakopoulos, bass, Io: Irini Konsta, soprano, Ocean / Hermes: John Britsas, Tenor, Violence / Goddess Athena: Katerina Botoni, Mezzo, Oceanid: Mariza Kioseoglou, soprano, Pandelis Legakis, pianist Music Direction.
The seminar that was preceded was coordinated by Dr. Chrysoula Tsigri, who gave a speech in the subject "The History of the Opera", composer Panagiotis Karousos referred to the Prosody, the philologist Sofia Athanasiou, gave the message of the director of the 62nd Gymnasium of Athens, Georgios Georgopoulos, and referred to the tragedy of Aeschylus "Prometheus Bound, and educator Aikaterini Diakogeorgiou referred to the opera "Prometheus Bound" by Panagiotis Karousos.
Active participation to the educational program was by the vice-director Zotos Ioannis, the vice-director Stoupa Marianna, the musician Vasiliki Theodoropoulou, and teachers Davos Georgios, and Tonozli Paschalina.
The 2nd Chorus of Oceanids of the Tragedy "Prometheus Bound" by Aeschylus translated by Ioannis Gryparis, was curated by philologist Sofia Athanasiou, and performed by the students: Aggelopoulou Stamana, Markakis Maria, Spyropoulos Zois, Paterakis Panagiota, Anthony Zois, Stavrelopoulou Ourania, Harami Athena, Sykiniotis Stella, Marisa, Tranos Argyro. A text from Aeschylus tragedy was interpreted by student Kollias Panagiotis (Prometheus).
The musical example of Prosody in Ancient Greek from the tragedy Prometheus Bound of Aeschylus interpreted by the Choir of the 62nd Gymnasium of Athens under the supervision of the musician Theodoropoulou Vasiliki.
The students of the 62nd Gymnasium of Athens showing too much enthusiasm about the opera singers' majestic voices and they continued to praise them all the time of the performance.
The excitement was such that at the end of the opera were took place the Educational Certificates to the participants and the congratulations lasted more than half an hour.
The quality of artists combined with the interactive participation has shown that students can appreciate the high art of the opera.
It is noted that the performance took place within the framework of the approved educational program of the Institute of Educational Policy – I.E.P., "The Prosody as a link of the opera with the ancient Greek tragedy", of the Ministry of Education, Research and Religious Affairs of Greece.
