Saturday, November 10, 2018. The Department of School Activities of the Directorate of Secondary Education of Korinthia with the collaboration of Chiliomodi Gymnasium and the valuable support of the "Friends of Ancient Tenea" Association presented in an opera performance the "Trachiniae" Tragedy of Sophocles of Panagiotis Karousos with great success.
The presentation took place at the Theater Hall of Chiliomodi with the excellent coordination of the musician Anastasia Tsapalou, Head of the Department of Activities of Corinth, who delivered the message of Dr. Ioannis Fidas, Director of the Education of Korinthia. The presentation was coordinated by Konstantina Drakou, Director of Chiliomodi Gymnasium of Corinthia.
The excellent performance was welcomed by Panagiota Vourvopoulou, President of the Association "Friends of Ancient Tena", Athanasios Gikas, Vice-president of the Peloponnese Region, Alexandros Pneumatikos, Mayor of Corinthia, George Psychogios, MP of SYRIZA of Korinthia, Dimitris Bitzios, President of the local community of Chiliomodi, and composer Panagiotis Karousos who preached the event.
The students of Chiliomodi High School with their teachers and parents, the members of the Friends of Ancient Tenea Association, the director Christos Tsirtsis of the Theater of Chiliomodi who contributed to the presentation of the opera, and a mass crowd of people attended the fine Greek modern opera.
The outstanding lyrical artists led by soprano Irini Konsta, who directed the opera and starred in the tragic role of Deianira, conjured up viewers were applauded her all times. The stunning stage presence of Irini Konsta and her huge voice impressed and at the tragic finale of the opera she shook the audience.
The role of Hercules was interpreted by the unique bass Vasilis Asimakopoulos, at the role of Makaria was the talented soprano Rea Voudouri, at the role of Alcmena the stunning mezzo Katerina Botoni, at the role of Eurystheus the dramatic tenor Theodoros Birakos and at the role of Iole the excellent soprano Mariza Kioseoglou. Pandelis Legakis had the musical direction at the piano.
The music-theatrical event was edited by Konstantina Drakou, Director of the Choliomodi Gymnasium of Corinthia, and participated the students: Meleti Katerina (Pythia), Skoupas Konstantinos and Tsiniotis Giorgos (athletes), Loukou Ioanna (Coryphaeus - leader of the chorus), Dimitrakopoulou Athena, Karavassilis Christos, Karaiskos Giannis , Koutsoukou Marileta, Kyriakidi Marianna, Solomou Dimitra (Chorus), and musician Kyriakidis Marianna, flute. Nicoloudakis Manolis, music teacher, did the music teaching. Students' participation and performance touched the audience. At the end of the opera, Training Certificates were given to participants, artists, teachers and students, among congratulations and applauses.

Byzantium for Beginners lecture by Billy Chrissochos

New York, Sunday, 11 November 2018. The Greek Literature Book Club presented its Inaugural first panel discussion “Byzantium for Beginners" at Archdiocesan Cathedral of the Holy Trinity. 
Historian and musician Mr. Billy Chrissochos gave a lecture in the subject of “The Macedonian Renaissance of Byzantium’s Macedonian Dynasty.” 
The presentation featured a distinguished group of speakers, Rev. Fr. John Vlahos, Nektarios Antoniou, Vassilios Chrissochos, and Daniel Padovano. President of Club, Jeannie Kouros, was master of ceremonies.
Billy Chrissochos declared: "This is what inspired me to write the Rock Opera “Anna and Vladimir".
I wanted to thank the president and good friend Jeannie Kouros and to congratulate the other speakers, Father John Vlachos, Daniel Padovano and Nektarios S. Antoniou. I wanted to thank my wife Despina Chrissochos for cooking two delicious trays of Pastitsio and helping behind the scenes. My AHEPA brothers were there to support us from the #Delphi25 Chapter and our District Governor Demi Pamboukes. Plenty of sponsors such as the Archdiocesan Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, our #Astoria AHEPA #Hermes 186 president George Zouvelos and Fiat Lux Studios, Lt.
