A CHRISTMAS CONCERT OF HIGH ART FROM THE CLUB FOR THE UNESCO OF PIRAEUS AND ISLANDS IN ATHENS GREECE

Great success had the Christmas Concert of the Club for UNESCO of Piraeus and Islands in the Trade and Industry Piraeus Chamber of Commerce on December 20, 2015.
The imposing building of the Piraeus Board of Trade, with striking morphological features on the road Louis 1 in Odessa Square was filled with people who applauded the wonderful opera artists.
Greeting gave John Maronitis, Chairman of the Club for UNESCO of Piraeus and Islands and Member of the Executive Council of the World Federation of UNESCO Clubs Centres Associations (WFUCA).
The guest of the evening renowned maestro Eleftherios Kalkanis congratulated the talented artists for their good interpretation and performance.
The presentation was made by composer Panagiotis Karousos, director of the Department of Opera and Classical Music of UNESCO which the artists interpreted excerpts from his lyrical oratorio "The Light of Christianity."

UNESCO opera director Panagiotis Karousos' Paris Christmas 2015 at Palais Garnier - Opera National de Paris

The director of opera and classical music for the department of UNESCO of Piraeus and Islands in Greece, visited Paris France for Christmas 2015. 
The composer Mister Panagiotis Karousos attended at Opera Garnier ballet performances.

The Group for UNESCO Department of Piraeus & Islands presents at the International Conservatory of Athens Tuesday, December 1, 2015, at 19:00p.m. an OPERA GALA in honor of Maria Callas. 
The recipients will perform famous arias from operas and will take the UNESCO MARIA CALLAS AWARDS 2015.
The Club for UNESCO of the Departments of Piraeus and Islands has the honor to present an Opera Gala in order to mark the anniversary of Maria Callas (2 December 1923). We present some of the finest Greek opera talented artists and works by renowned Greek-Canadian opera composer Panagiotis Karousos. 
Maria Callas, (Greek: Μαρία Κάλλας; December 2, 1923 – September 16, 1977), was an American-born Greek soprano and one of the most renowned and influential opera singers of the 20th century. 
Critics praised her bel canto technique, wide-ranging voice and dramatic gifts. Her repertoire ranged from classical opera seria to the bel canto operas of Donizetti, Bellini and Rossini and further, to the works of Verdi and Puccini; and, in her early career, to the music dramas of Wagner. Her musical and dramatic talents led to her being hailed as La Divina.

Thanksgivings celebration 2015 in Paris

Panagiotis Karousos performed little-bit of his music at the Hôtel The Peninsula Paris
Panagiotis Karousos, composer and director for the Department of Opera and Classical Music for  the UNESCO Club of the Department of Piraeus & Islands visited Paris, France.
At his visit in France he when to Headquarters of UNESCO to the Greek Delegation in Paris.
Also he when to Conservatory of Music of Paris and University of Sorbonne.
  He visited the Museum of Louvre and other touristic attractions of the capital of France Paris as The Cathedral Notre-Dame de Paris and Eiffel Tower. 
The trip of Panagiotis Karousos to Paris was for the Thanksgivings celebration 2015.

AN ANTHEM TO GREAT DIVA OF OPERA FROM THE CLUB FOR UNESCO OF PIRAEUS AND ISLANDS
For the second consecutive year the UNESCO Club of the Department of Piraeus and Islands held its awards «UNESCO MARIA CALLAS» with great success and participation of remarkable lyrical artists.

The delegation of UNESCO Club of Piraeus and Islands held the awarding of prizes "Maria Callas UNESCO 2015».
Ms. Angeliki Pitsoli, Director of Gender Equality, the Group for Unesco for Piraeus and Islands, was carrying the message and greetings from Mr. Ioannis Maronitis, President of the Club for UNESCO of Piraeus and Islands and Member of the Executive Council of the World Federation of Clubs, Associations and Centres of UNESCO (WFUCA) for Europe and North America.
The presentation made by Panagiotis Karousos, composer and director for the Department of Opera and Classical Music for  the UNESCO Club of the Department of Piraeus & Islands.
At the cheer audience were many personalities of Classical Music and Opera. Among others Georgios Sioras, Founder and Director of the International Conservatory of Athens, the soprano Irene Konsta, prized with the award "Maria Callas UNESCO 2014», the protagonist of the National Opera of Greece Martha Arapi, the professor and Opera Coach Larisa Iasonidou, etc.
The contribution of Maria Callas to opera was so great that changed the history of opera that today we talk about before and after Maria Callas.

The "Maria Callas Prize" of the UNESCO Club for the Department of Piraeus & Islands given in honor of talented Greek lyric artists at the instigation to offer in the space that achieved the La Divina Maria Callas.
