Panagiotis Karousos concert at the Greek Writers' Society

On Sunday, June 28, 2026, the Greek Writers' Society successfully presented a classical music concert with notable works by composer Panagiotis Karousos on the theme "The Philosophy of Physics" at the "Michaelas Averoff" Hall. The Musical Ensemble "Rhapsodes" and Lyric Soloists participated: Irini Konsta (soprano), Rhea Voudouri (soprano), Athanasios Lianos (tenor), Yiannis Darrios (tenor), Maria Grigoriou (soprano). Recitations: Varvara Kyritsi (actress), and Vasilis Vasiliou (actress). Musical direction - piano: Harry Giann. Rehearsal supervision: Rhea Voudouri. Artistic supervision: Panagiotis Karousos (composer). A greeting was given by Kostas Karousos (President of the Society of Greek Writers, writer, artist). The audience applauded the artists, and it was decided to repeat the concert in the fall. The artists were awarded honorary commendations by Kostas Karousos, President of the Society of Greek Writers. The excellent program included the following: From the opera Iliad by Homer: “Shield of Achilles” choral. Achilles’ aria “Let discord be destroyed” by Athanasios Lianos. Duet Achilles & Briseis “What victory will I bring” by Athanasios Lianos and Rea Voudouri. Duet Paris & Helen “On the outstretched scapula” by Athanasios Lianos and Irini Konsta. Johannes Kepler “Prayer of an Astronomer” Rea Voudouri (soprano). Leonardo da Vinci “Knowing How to See” Irini Konsta. Heraclitus “Everything Flows” Yannis Darrios. Georgios Drosinis “Flowers of the Cliff” Maria Grigoriou. Dionysios Solomos “Anamnesis” recitation: Varvara Kyritsi, interpretation: Rhea Voudouri and Maria Grigoriou. Ioannis Polemis “Caryatides” choral and recitation by Vasilis Vasiliou. “Hymn to Saint Nektarios” Rea Voudouri and Yannis Darriou. The internationally renowned composer Panagiotis Karousos presented the concert and his works. The "Iliad" by composer Panagiotis Karousos is an opera in the footsteps of the great composers of the Italian Belcanto school and is strongly reminiscent of operas by Verdi and Bellini.
