Aeschylus' masterpiece “Prometheus Bound” in opera:

The lyric tragedy "Prometheus Bound" is the first Greek popular opera presented internationally and always with great success in areas such as the Sorbonne, Place des Arts in Canada, Epidaurus, UN, getting rave reviews.

The opera is based on the tragedy of Aeschylus 'Prometheus Bound' translated by Gryparis, and presented with costumes in a theatrical form.

Prometheus was presented in Montreal, Canada in 1994 and performed intermittently in French until 2000. In 2008 moved to New York and Washington under the direction of maestro Grant Gilman. In Greece Prometheus ascended at the Little Theatre of Ancient Epidaurus, Theatre of Ancient Messene, Ancient Agora, National Archaeological Museum, Theatre Veakeio, International Petra Festival, Theatre Saras Markopoulo, in the Municipal Theatres Cholargos, Corinth, Halkida, Argostoli, Ithaka, Zakynthos, in Peristeri Park, at the Hall of Society of Greek Writers, Archaeological Museum of Piraeus, Evripidio Theatre of Salamis Island, Theatre "Jenny Karezi", Tsagarada Pelion, etc.

With the patronage of UNESCO was presented in March 2014 in New York City in Queens Auditorium and the UN starring Vassilis Asimakopoulos representing Greece at the UN, and in the Amphitheater Richelieu of the Sorbonne in Paris, presented by Ioannis Maronitis, President of the Club for  UNESCO Piraeus & Islands and Member of the Executive Council of the World Federation Clubs, Associations & UNESCO Centres (WFUCA) for Europe and North America.

Under the direction of conductor Eleftherios Kalkanis presented at the Third Programme of Greek National Radio-Television ERT, the Concert Hall of Literary Society "Parnassos", and in the Old Parliament House of Greece.

The opera "Prometheus Bound" Panagiotis Karousos has created a unique story in Greek opera. For the first time a Greek opera itself becomes popular. The work expresses the voice of the popular fighter giving hope and courage in the social and moral decadence. The rebel Prometheus brings the fire of knowledge, and the universal message of resistance against all sorts of tyrannical powers. In today's violent and turbulent era hero Prometheus brings a message of hope. Not only the high lyricism of Aeschylus and the symbolism of Prometheus the Titan touched both the world, but is the inspired music creation of Panagiotis Karousos that awakening primordial feelings unseen to listeners.

The kind of opera has global reach and visibility and is not kind of fun but instructive, uplifting spiritual and mental progress, the work is a great contribution to the culture of humanity, as an achievement of the human mind, with deep roots in ancient Greek tragedy.

THE OPERA "OLYMPIC FLAME" BY PANAGIOTIS KAROUSOS PRESENTED BY BILLY CHRISSOCHOS WITH SUCCESS IN NEW YORK UNDER THE PATRONAGE OF THE CLUB FOR UNESCO OF PIRAEUS AND ISLANDS

New York 5 July 2016. Billy Chrissochos organized the first Greek opera’s Open-Air presentation, The Olympic Flame by Panagiotis Karousos at the Athens Square Park

Billy Chrissochos, director of modern music for UNESCO Piraeus & Island New York chapter he organized the presentation of the opera at Lincoln Center of the Performing Arts last April. His amazing work and dedication to the fine Arts made the debut of the first Greek opera at Lincoln Center a triumph.

In continuing the Lincoln Center success he organized the representation of the opera Olympic Flame by Panagiotis Karousos in a second historical event, the first Greek opera presentation in an open-air festival at Astoria’s Athens Square Park.

Billy Chrissochos contribution the arts is major, composer himself to the Greek opera Porphyra, he made history in New York with his presentations.

Porphyra, the Greek Rock Opera presented last year at Carnegie Hall with success, and this year at off-Broadway’s Players Theatre, again with big success.

In addition to his performances with the Rock Opera Porphyra he organized successfully the two major presentations of the Olympic Flame by Panagiotis Karousos.

 On Tuesday, July 5, 2016 the Athens Square in Astoria, New York was filled with people who came to see the Greek opera "Olympic Flame" by internationally acclaimed Greek-Canadian composer Panagiotis Karousos. The Athens Square lived one of the most touching moments of the Greek Community in New York. They participated exceptional American artists of opera with amazing stage appearances and high quality voices.

Great dramatic tenor Demetrios Tsinopoulos interpreted the role of Hercules, the magnificent dramatic soprano Elisabeth Shoup the tragic role of Deianira, one of American biggest dramatic mezzo voices Ola Rafalo interpreted the role of Alcmene, the fine bass Kofi Hayford the roles of Eurystheus, Hyllus and Prometheus, the lovely Greek-American soprano Stella Papatheodorou interpreted the roles of Iole and Macaria and strong mezzo-soprano Viktoriya Koreneva the role of High Priestess. The artists accompanied by pianist Tor Morten Kjøsnes.

In this production composer added to the opera a new duet King Hurystheus and High Priestess, especially for Viktoriya Koreneva and Kofi Hayford, in order to create a rare duet for bass and mezzo. The duet was well performed and especially received by the crowd.

Stage director Eli Markos did a wonderful work with singers and Despina Chrissochos interpreted the role of narrator Oracle.

Representative of UNESCO Angelika Sandora, gave Certificates of Honor to all artists and organizers on behalf of Ioannis Maronitis, president of the Club for UNESCO Piraeus and Islands and Member of the Board of the World Federation of Associations and Club Centres for UNESCO (UNESCO / WFUCA), responsible for Europe and North America.

The majestic presentation of the opera followed the UNESCO ceremony included President Ioannis Maronnitis message and dedication of the performance to the return of the Parthenon Marbles to Greece, and to proclamation by UNESCO of the year 2016 as “Aristotle Anniversary Year”.

General organizer Billy Chrissochos, Director of Modern Music of the Club for UNESCO of Piraeus and Islands NY Chapter, did an excellent work.

Mr. Billy Chrissochos among with George Delis, President of the Athens Square Park, and Panos Adamopoulos, Program Director in Greek nights at the Summer Timetable Athens Square, Greek Nights Summer 2016, dedicated the opera performance to the Rio de Janeiro, Brazil Summer Olympic Games 2016.

Despina Chrissochos welcomed the public introducing the work: “Modern masterpiece opera "Olympic Flame" by Panagiotis Karousos, made his triumphant debut at Lincoln Center last April. Now presented in the United States for a stage production at the Summer Festival of Astoria on the occasion of the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro”.

UNESCO NY director Billy Chrissochos addressed to the public: “The Olympic Flame by Panagiotis Karousos is an opera in two acts related to the myth of Hercules and the establishment of the Olympic Games, tonight the opera will be performed with costumes and stage directing, as a preparation for our next presentation in a full production in opera theater with orchestra and our conductor Jestin Pieper”.

The newspaper "National Herald" of New York devoted a full page with photos and video from the historical presentation of a first Greek opera in Astoria Festival.

Greek-American tenor Demetrios Tsinopoulos gave a successful concert in Greece under the Auspices of UNESCO Piraeus and Islands

The Club for UNESCO Piraeus and Islands presented a successful concert with Greek-American tenor Demetrios Tsinopoulos at Nikaia City Hall, Athens, Greece.
On Friday August 19th took place a concert of classical music at Nikaia City Hall under the auspices of the Club for UNESCO Piraeus and Islands.
Honorary president of the Club for UNESCO Piraeus and Islands Mr. Pavlos Nisloglou gave the message of Mr. Ioannis Maronitis, President for the Club of UNESCO Piraeus and Islands.
Sofia Papadatou spoke about the artistic career of tenor Demetrios Tsinopoulos.
Composer Panagiotis Karousos presented the fine evening of classical music and opera.

The soloist of the concert tenor Demetrios Tsinopoulos interpreted wonderfully arias from operas by Panagiotis Karousos, Giuseppe Verdi, Georges Bizet and Giacomo Puccini, accompanied by the excellent musicians Mirela Ruci, cello and Paraskevi Kleisoura, piano.
A special moment was the interpretation, of dramatic tenor Demetrios Tsinopoulos', Othelo aria as well as Hercules arias from the opera Olympic Flame. Demetrios Tsinopoulos ended his concert the the Italian song "Musica proibita" by Stanislao Gastaldon in a cheer applause. 
Cellist Mirela Ruci, majestically interpreted the "Divertimento for Cello and Piano" with pianist Paraskevi Kleisoura.

The amazing tenor Demetrios Tsinopoulos awarded with a honorary plaque from the Club for UNESCO Piraeus and Islands. The UNESCO delegation gave Honorary awards to participant musicians Mirela Ruci, Paraskevi Kleisoura and Panagiotis Karousos.
The beautiful evening of opera and classical music had many guests. Among others  the members of the Club for UNESCO Piraeus and Islands Dr. Anastasios Koutsoukos, Roula Kavakiotis, Angela Chiotis, George Dimou, Sofia Papadatou. Between attendee audience soprano Irini Konsta, the Pagia Moustaki - Veaki, and the tenor Demetrios Tsinopoulos parents. Audiance much liked the concert and gave many applauses to the fine tenor Demetrios Tsinopoulos.

The concert was organized by The Hellenic American Center of the Arts.

Tenor, Demetrios John Tsinopoulos, was born and raised in Greece. There he studied voice at the prestigious National Conservatory in Athens as well as the art of acting at one of the highest ranked acting schools in Greece, the Veaki. He has worked with numerous distinguished coaches and teachers in Europe and in the USA, most notably Salvatore Fisichella, David Jones, Jack Livigni, Dimitris Kavrakos, and his current teacher Oliver Sohngen. His US debut was in May 2015 at Carnegie Hall where he created the role of the High Priest for the opera Porphyra by B. Chrissochos. Following that he was invited to perform a Recital at his former acting school in memory of his first teacher and uncle, tenor Antonio Theba. Other credits include his dream role of Otello by G. Verdi with the Opera Company of Brooklyn under maestro J. Meetze. Now he is excited and honored to be performing the role of his childhood hero Heracles for maestro Karousos’ amazing composition Olympic Flame and also looking forward to adding several other roles to his repertoire.

In 5^th July 2016, he performed the leading part of Hercules at the triumphal representation of the opera Olympic Flame in the Athens Square Park, Astoria. The opera presented with costumes and theatrical staging with the Lincoln Center cast. The reception of the crowd was amazing, full of cheer applause especially for the tenor Demetrios Tsinopoulos. It was the first time that a Greek opera presented in an open-air festival in America and artists got a Standing Ovation. 
Demetrios Tsinopoulos collaborates with Billy Chrissochos, Director of Modern Music for the Club of UNESCO Piraeus & Islands New York Chapter for the future presentation of the opera Olympic Flame.

Dramatic tenor Demetrios Tsinopoulos will perform arias from operas by Verdi, Bizet, Puccini, and Karousos, accompanied by pianist Paraskevi Kleisoura and cellist Mirela Ruci.

 Tenor Demetrios Tsinopoulos took the leading part in the first Greek opera presented at Lincoln Center, New York, the "Olympic Flame" by Panagiotis Karousos. The opera made a great success and represented at an open-air festival in July at the Athens Square Park of Astoria.
Mr. Demetrios Tsinopoulos performed again the leading role of Hercules with his heroic vocal powers and powerful stage presence acclaimed by the public.
