Saturday, December 7, 2024. A concert with works by the internationally renowned composer Panagiotis Karousos was held with great success at the Peace and Friendship Stadium (S.E.F.), a concert dedicated to the return of the Parthenon Sculptures, within the framework of the International Festival. Cultures "Continents of the World - SEF - December 7 and 8, 2024, organized by the UNESCO Piraeus and Islands. An international festival with a rich cultural program dedicated to the return of the Parthenon sculptures and marbles, with the participation of hundreds of dance groups, traditional clubs and thousands of musicians and dancers. Greetings and presentations were made by Mr Ioannis Maronitis, president of the Club for UNESCO of Piraeus and Islands and Islands and the international organization International Action Art, who referred to the return of the Parthenon Sculptures. Greetings were delivered by the President of SEF Peace and Friendship Stadium Christina Tsiliggiri and congratulated Mr. Ioannis Maronitis, president of the Club for UNESCO of Piraeus and Islands, for the excellent organization of the International Festival of Cultures. The poems set to music by the internationally renowned composer Panagiotis Karousos, the Parthenon (Kostís Palamas), the Caryatids (Ioannis Polemis), the Daughters of Athens (Lord Byron) and Melina, a song about the actress, singer, activist, and politician Melina Mercouri, were presented with great success. The members of the “Rhapsodes” Choir and the lyrical soloists Rhea Voudouri (soprano), Niki Zacharopoulou (alto), Maria Grigoriou (alto), Sophia Daraki (alto) successfully participated. Artistic direction: Panagiotis Karousos. The songs and the artists were enthusiastically applauded by the audience of the packed “Melina Mercouri” hall of the Peace and Friendship Stadium. The internationally renowned music composer Panagiotis Karousos was congratulated by the Deputy Governor of Piraeus Stavroula Antonakou, Olympic Champion (Beijing 2008), World Champion (2011), and member of the Association of Greek Olympic Champions. The cultural program is dedicated to the return of the Parthenon Sculptures and Marbles, with the participation of hundreds of dance groups, traditional associations and thousands of musicians and dancers.
