Monday, June 9, 2025. A concert with works by the internationally renowned composer P. Karousos was presented at the Municipal Theater of Piraeus, by the Club for UNESCO of Piraeus and Islands. In the concert, which featured bands from Mexico, Colombia, Chile, and Cuba, featuring soprano Maria Kokka that impressed and received warm applause. The famous soprano Maria Kokka performed in italian version the song "Maria Callas of our hearts - Maria Callas del Cuore" by the composer Panagiotis Karousos and was applauded enthusiastically by all of Piraeus. With her, tenor Giannis Darios sang the song "Caryatides" in poetry by Ioannis Polemis, dedicated to the return of the Parthenon sculptures, which he performed wonderfully. Christiana Manou accompanied them on the piano. Ioannis Maronitis, President of the Club for UNESCO of Piraeus and Islands and President of the European Federation of Clubs and Associations for UNESCO, delivered a welcome address, and presented an honorary award with praise to the great soprano Maria Kokka for her contribution to art, and her worthy interpretations of the lyrical works of the composer P. Karousos.
The concert was co-organized by the Municipality of Piraeus, and Ioannis Maronitis, President of the Club for UNESCO of Piraeus and Islands, thanked Yiannis Moralis, Mayor of Piraeus, journalist Andriana Zarakeli, Deputy Mayor of Piraeus, the ambassadors of the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean, who honored the event with their presence, and the crowd that flooded the venue and applauded continuously. Congratulations to all the organizers and participants for this beautiful evening of culture and art.
